WinCatalog AI Bridge is a companion application that generates text descriptions and keywords for images in your catalog. Once descriptions are generated, you can search your photo and image collection using natural language — for example, searching for "sunset on beach" or "birthday party" will find matching images even if those words are not in the file names.
Availability: AI Bridge is available starting with WinCatalog 2026.1.
How It Works
AI Bridge uses a local AI language model (running on your own computer) to analyze image thumbnails that are already stored in your WinCatalog catalog. For each image it processes, it generates:

caption describing the scene

keywords relevant to the image content

shot type (e.g., close-up, medium shot)

number of people clearly detected on the image
All generated data is saved in the catalog database and is immediately available for full-text search in WinCatalog.
Please note: AI Bridge uses machine learning models that analyze images automatically. While the results are generally useful for searching and organizing your catalog, AI-generated descriptions may sometimes be inaccurate or incomplete. You should not rely on these descriptions in situations where precision is critical — for example, when working with medical imagery, legal or financial documents, or images containing culturally sensitive content (such as religious symbols, flags, or cultural artifacts) where a misidentification could be misleading. AI Bridge is designed as a search and discovery tool, not as a source of verified or authoritative image descriptions.
Important: AI Bridge can only process files that already have thumbnails generated in WinCatalog. Make sure to run a disk scan with thumbnail generation enabled before using AI Bridge.
AI Bridge processes any file that has a thumbnail in your WinCatalog catalog — primarily images (JPEG, PNG, TIFF, BMP, RAW formats) and video files with generated thumbnails, but also Office files, 3D Models, Album Covers, etc.
