The next version of WinCatalog, 2027.1, is almost ready, and it brings a feature many of you have asked for: a dark theme.
Codename: Lamplighter
Every WinCatalog version gets a codename while we’re working on it. Until now we kept them to ourselves. This time the name suits the main feature so well that we decided to share it. WinCatalog 2027 is codenamed Lamplighter.
The lamplighter is a character from The Little Prince. He lights his lamp at dusk and puts it out at dawn, because those are his orders. WinCatalog 2027 follows the same rule: it turns dark when Windows switches to dark mode and turns light again when Windows does.
Dark Theme
If you work with your catalog late in the evening, or simply prefer dark interfaces, WinCatalog will now match the rest of your Windows setup. The dark theme covers the whole program: the main window, the catalog tree, list and thumbnail views, the Properties panel, and the rest of the interface. You won’t get a bright white panel popping up in the middle of a dark screen.
Thumbnails look better too. Photos and video frames stand out against a dark background, and it’s easier on the eyes when you spend a long time browsing through them.
Free Upgrade for WinCatalog 2026 Users
WinCatalog 2027 will be a free upgrade for everyone who purchased WinCatalog 2026 or an upgrade to it. You won’t need a new registration key. When the new version comes out, just install it over the existing one.
