A new version of WinCatalog has been just released

WinCatalog 2014 version 6.0 A new version of WinCatalog 2014 has been just released. The version number is 6.0. The new version fixes issues with some Windows 8.1 installations on computers with touch screens and adds new features.

Now you can reduce size of your collection file by deleting all the grabbed thumbnails (for pictures, RAW images and video files). This feature may be useful for backup purposes. Many of our clients asked for this feature.

Another new improvement concerns the Search filter: it is now possible to list all items (files, folders, non-file records) which are NOT linked with a specific tag (keyword).

There is a visual improvement: now the Properties panel (which appears on the right) displays properties of the parent folder (or drive) if nothing is selected in the main list view.

A “New Search” button has been added to the Ribbon toolbar and now you can assign any shortcut to the button which will open a new search tab.

The upgrade to WinCatalog 2014 ver. 6.0 is free for everyone who own a license for WinCatalog 2014, WinCatalog 2013, WinCatalog 2012 or WinCatalog 2011. There is a special upgrade price for all other customers who own WinCatalog 2003-2009 or even SecureSafe Pro - get your discount here.

I've been using WinCatalog for six years with great success...

“I’ve been using WinCatalog for six years with great success. I have 1000+ DVDs/CDs in my collection. WinCatalog is quick and grabs a plethora of data. Searching the catalog is painless. I can add special tags to help find what I want. Having the capability to embed photo thumbnails is an important and excellent addition to the newest version. I will forever be a satisfied customer. What a great piece of software!”

WinCatalog 2014 is here

WinCatalog 2014 (version 5) We’re glad to inform you that WinCatalog 2014 has been just released. The version number is 5.0.

The most advanced improvements of the current version: thumbnails for video files and pending scans.

WinCatalog 2014 can grab thumbnails for video files (codecs are required to be installed on the computer). Thumbnails also can be grabbed from some other types of files. In short, if Windows Explorer can display previews for your files, WinCatalog will also be able to grab the thumbnails.

Using WinCatalog 2014 you can interrupt the scanning process, save intermediate results and continue at any time from that point. Now during the scan when you click Stop in the progress window, WinCatalog asks you if you wish to save or discard changes. This feature works for both scanning and updating processes.

The upgrade to WinCatalog 2014 is free for everyone who own a license for WinCatalog 2013, WinCatalog 2012 or WinCatalog 2011. There is a special upgrade price for all other customers who own WinCatalog 2003-2009 or even SecureSafe Pro - get your discount here.

I have 18 hard drives, most of them on the shelf...

We’re publishing the recent testimonial from Bob Snow. Bob uses WinCatalog since 2004 and what he’s saying:

Hard Drives First off I never write a review if it’s negative. Everyone can evaluate a program differently. My goals in a review is to pass on features that will help someone else.

Reviews can be very misleading. I have a product that I have used for over 12 years called Opus. I will not start my computer without it. To say it’s a replacement for Microsoft’s Internet Explorer is extremely misleading. And that’s what it’s always compared to. It’s a product that does everything, everything I need to do for computer control. There is no way that you can fire this up for 30 days and write a review. You have to live it.

Your product [meaning WinCatalog, M.R.] fits in to this bucket along with Dragon, Snagit, MacroExpress and WinRAR, that’s the kind of company you keep. You extend the capabilities of Opus, capturing and controlling history, making it fit into the got to have.

I’m using your product, teaming with Opus to save, my company. I was a victim of a very savage identity theft that dealt a devastating blow to all of my critical files. I have 18 hard drives, most of them on the shelf, that holds proprietary data critical to my company. The data deal with every home built since 1989 in the Wisconsin. I was able to recover my losses and continue on because I had made the decision to use WinCatalog back in the day.

So to me this is why your product is a necessity to me.

  1. You were here back in the day, today and I’m confident tomorrow. (Reliability)

  2. Extremely easy for me to use with no teaching necessary when others help.

  3. Very robust and does what I need when it comes to a history of my data.

Thank you very much for having an idea, developing it and successfully marketing your finished product that fits in well with other reliable software. You say it sounds a bit patronized. Give it a try and see what you’re saying.

WinCatalog 4.15 Minor Update

Hello,

WinCatalog 2013 version 4.15 is available. The new update fixes two minor issues:

  • In some cases sorting by Type worked like sorting by Name. The reason was that sorting by Type considered all files (except pictures and archives) as having the same type (file), so the Name column was used (as a second sorting criteria, which is used for identical values in other columns).
  • In some cases on search queries returning large result lists (more than 10-15+ thousands found items) some items could be lost. WinCatalog does not lose any results now, however the GUI freezes for a while on fetching huge result sets now while tries to display all the results. We’re planning to solve this as well.
  • Chinese translation has been updated.

The latest version is always available here.
