After modifying processing options, WinCatalog may not update files that were previously added to the catalog

By default, to expedite updates, WinCatalog only refreshes files that have changed since the last scan when updating a disk or folder. This means if you alter processing options or switch scanning profiles, only newly modified files will be recognized and updated.

To ensure all files are updated, you'll need to temporarily disable this default behavior. To do this, click on the "Scanning Options" button located on the toolbar. Then, choose the "Full file info (default)" scanning profile (or another you want to modify). Navigate to the "General Scanning" tab and deselect the option labeled: "While updating a disk or a folder: skip unmodified files (speeds up the update process)". After making this change, click "Save" and proceed to update your disk(s).

Furthermore, if you're adjusting text processing settings (applicable to PDFs, Office documents, or plain text files), it's important to also deselect the "Keep comments on update (do not overwrite non-empty comments)" option. This step is crucial because WinCatalog stores the content of text-based files in the form of Comments, and leaving this option marked will prevent updates to these comments.

Please do not forget to turn these options back on to speed up future updates and preserve comments.
